  1. Evaluate your rank on Booking.com and Expedia - will improving your rank and generate additional revenue (If you are ranked high or there is a big gap between yourself and the next competitor up and down then maybe not).

  2. Use high-quality, well-lit, and professional images – include 24+ photos and multiple angles of each room and amenities.

  3. Choose your Hero Image wisely - This is the first photo guests see on Booking.com. A strong Hero Image attracts clicks, makes your listing more relevant, and helps improve your ranking. Look at what the top ranking motels in your area have as their photo.

  4. Keep prices competitive and update regularly. If your prices are cheaper on your website booking.com will push you down their ranks. If you want to have a lower price on your website it needs to be via membership or promo code. 

  5. Keep plenty of availability - load your calendar at least 1 year ahead, minimize restrictions, and avoid frequent blackouts. Booking.com is looking to promote motels that will generate the most bookings - if you have limited availability Booking.com will move you down in the rankings.

  6. Booking.com puts more value on new guest reviews. Work hard and earn high guest reviews; focus on cleanliness, comfort, WiFi, and service - Booking.com will reward you.

  7. Complete your profile – list all amenities, house rules, room details, and ensure your Property Page Score is 100%. More amenities will help you show up for more search filters on Booking.com.

  8. Respond quickly to messages and booking requests – aim for replies within a few hours - Booking.com will reward you for this.

  9. Leverage Booking.com’s programs – Preferred Partner, Genius, and promotions like Mobile Rates or Early Booker Deals (Evaluate programs on their own merit for your circumstances).

  10. Encourage guest reviews and respond to negative feedback professionally.
